ECOM POSITION-in-AIR is an aircraft map positioning system for locating / tracking the position of aircraft in the air and display s these on a computer screen in the control tower on the ground. All aircraft to be tracked are equipped with a GPS based locator module, which has a fix of the aircraft position using the GPS satellite receiver, it than automatically reports this periodically to the control tower in short millisecond bursts over the aircraft radio providing a coverage of approx 120kms radius around the control tower; for longer range the latest Thuraya satellite link provides unlimited coverage in most parts of Asia and northern Africa. |
